Our recently completed Hawthorne Siblings Project 101 has been proudly featured by Australian Sustainable Hardwoods (ASH), recognising the project’s innovative approach to compact architectural living in Brisbane’s inner city.

ASH is one of Australia’s largest and most respected hardwood manufacturers, operating for more than 30 years and leading the industry in sustainably sourced timber products. Their commitment to quality craftsmanship and Australian‑grown hardwood made them an ideal partner for this architecturally driven project.

Located in Hawthorne, Brisbane, the Hawthorne Siblings are a pair of thoughtfully designed compact dwellings that respond to modern urban density and evolving town‑planning requirements. Each home embraces a contemporary architectural language that prioritises natural light, spatial efficiency and seamless indoor–outdoor living. Through a refined palette of textures, warm materials and carefully framed landscape views, the design invites the outside in and creates a calm, connected family environment.

A key material selection for this project was Victorian Ash, chosen for its light colour, warmth and consistency — perfectly complementing the restrained architectural palette. As a premium Australian hardwood, Victorian Ash offered the stability, straightness and workability required to achieve the precise detailing and craftsmanship that define our builds. Its ease of cutting, staining and installation allowed our carpentry team to deliver the high‑accuracy finish expected in our architectural projects.

The result is a pair of compact homes that demonstrate how thoughtful design, sustainable materials and meticulous construction can elevate small‑scale living into something truly exceptional.
